Domino’s
Oh yes we did. Few brands in modern history have successfully reinvented their core business in the way that Domino’s has. By the late 2000s, Domino’s struggled with stagnant sales, a declining customer base, and a perception that its pizza tasted mediocre at best. Negative customer feedback often cited bland crusts, uninspiring toppings, and poor overall quality. Rather than run from this criticism, Domino’s Pizza Turnaround Campaign came out and told the uncomfortable truth: the old product wasn’t great, and Domino’s customers knew it. We put this criticism on air for all to see and then set out to win these critics back with our newly revamped pizza recipe. Effectively turning this criticism into a rallying cry for change. “We heard you,” became Domino’s new corporate philosophy across TV ads, digital campaigns, and social media posts.
Simultaneously, Domino’s reinvented its online ordering system and mobile app. We introduced innovations like the Pizza Tracker, emoji ordering, and gamified user experiences like Domino’s Pizza Builder and Pizza Hero app to reposition the brand as a global leader in tech innovation within the quick-service restaurant industry. The transformation was remarkable. Domino’s not only regained the public’s trust, but surged ahead of competitors. The combination of radical honesty, technological innovation, and a true customer-first approach turned Domino’s into a business school case study in modern brand reinvention. No longer just a pizza company, Domino’s became a tech-savvy business that delivered pizza — and lots of it — with speed, quality, and a newfound confidence. Their stock price has never looked back.
